LDA official held for taking bribe

LAHORE:The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab, as part of its crackdown on corrupt elements, has arrested Lahore Development Authority (LDA) record keeper for taking bribe.

The arrest was made during a trap raid conducted by Anti-Corruption Lahore, following a complaint from Mehtab Ahmad, a resident of Allama Iqbal Town. According to spokesperson of ACE, the accused Nisar Butt was apprehended red-handed while demanding a bribe to facilitate the transfer of a flat. The operation was executed under the supervision of Circle Officer Lahore Syed Sohail Akhlaq alongside a magistrate.

During the raid, a marked note was recovered from the accused, serving as an evidence of the bribe. A case was also registered against Nisar Butt, further solidifying the Anti-Corruption Establishment's commitment to eliminating corrupt elements within public institutions.

10 die in road accidents in Punjab

The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,220 road traffic accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these accidents, 10 people died, whereas 1,332 were injured. Out of these, 570 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 752 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.

Assault accused arrested

The Lahore Safe City Project authorities Monday arrested an assault accused quickly. Reportedly, Helpline 15 received a call of a man who sought immediate help against the accused who assaulted his 13-year-old daughter and threatened to kill her. The Virtual Women Police Station immediately dispatched local police to the scene and police team arrested the accused.

The Safe City Virtual Women Police Station also registered an FIR at the relevant police station. According to Safe City Project spokesperson, the Virtual Women Police Station is available 24/7 to address women's issues and women can contact the Virtual Women Police Station by calling 15 in emergencies.

Two shot at, injured

Two people were injured in firing in Islampura area here on Monday. According to police, Faheem Raza and Sunny were injured. A case was registered by Islampura police.

Faheem Raza told police that Dilawar Gujjar sold drugs in the area and when he stopped him from doing, he threatened to kill him and demanded Rs50,000. He alleged when he did not pay him the money, he attacked him. Accused Dilawar Gujjar approached the victims at Abdali Chowk and fired five shots.
