25-kg tumour from woman’s uterus removed

LAHORE : A team of gynaecologists of Lahore General Hospital achieved a major success in their field and saved the life of a mother of two children by performing a very complicated operation of 48-year-old woman Sumera Amjad by removing a tumour weighing 25-kg from her fibroid uterus.

The team of Gynae department unit 3 included Dr Shabnam M Ali, Dr Maryam Zulfiqar, Dr Nadia Sabeen, Dr Aroosa, Dr Sajida and Dr Usman performed this complex operation by using their professional skills, the operation lasted for 5 hours. Sumera Amjad was suffering from abdominal pain and various gynaecological diseases for a long time. She kept visiting different hospitals for a long time but her disease worsened. Finally, this woman came to the Gynaecology OPD of LGH for treatment where Dr Laila Shafiq and an expert team of gynaecologists examined the woman and after conducting various tests, it was noted that there is a huge tumor in her uterus. The patient was admitted and decided to operate in LGH as early as possible.

By removing that tumor, the woman's life was saved. On this successful operation, Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute & Lahore General Hospital Prof Dr Al-Fareed Zafar congratulated the gynaecologists on this achievement and appreciated their performance. The family members of the woman prayed for the doctors of LGH and said that they are thankful to the health professionals of this hospital who took care of their patient very carefully.
