LAHORE: The Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) has taken measures to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply amid rising power demand on the back of increasing mercury level, said Lesco CEO Engineer Shahid Haider here Friday.

Addressing a press conference, he said Lesco is focusing on operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. He said that daytime demand of 3,700mw is being met after observing about 100mw load management on high losses feeders. He hastened to add that in the evening electricity demand showed upward trend and touched 4,200mw as solar power supply also started to get diminished.

Apart from high-loss feeders, there is no loadshedding being implemented. However, 3-hour, 4-hour, and 5-hour loadshedding is being carried out on 131 feeders in Category-3, 57 feeders in Category-4, and 37 feeders in Category-5 respectively, he concluded. Out of 2,169 feeders, only 57 experienced technical issues affecting the power supply in the past 12 hours, with prompt resolutions achieved for 2.6 percent of affected feeders, he said. He said that Lesco has adjusted its staff in response to heatwave by reallocating personnel from construction and streetlight departments to enhance operational capabilities. This realignment aims to minimise response times during emergencies and prioritise customer service, he observed.
