ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed the cabinet committee on emigration, overseas employment and technical and vocational education and training.
The prime minister will head the 8-member committee. The other members include Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resources, Minister of Education and Training, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Interior, Minister of Health, Minister of Industry and Production and Minister of Commerce.
Co-opt members who will attend the meetings on special invitation include National Coordinators SIFC, Governor State Bank, Executive Director Newtech and Chairman HEC. The Cabinet Division has issued a notification for the establishment of the committee. The ToRs of the nine-member committee have also been issued.
This committee will act as a central forum for all government agencies on overseas employment and technical training issues. It will act as coordination on overseas functions of technical training. It will review the policies related to technical training and address the issues faced by the stakeholders.
The mechanisms related to vocational training standards, accreditation and certification have been approved. The committee will approve monitoring and evaluation framework for vocational training institutions, guidelines for the curriculum of technical training institutions, programme for capacity building of vocational instructors, plan to eliminate illegal immigration, HR trafficking and exploitation of skilled workers and will develop an action plan to engage with international partners.
