Steps taken for maximum enrolment in Upper Dir schools

DIR: An official of the Education Department in Upper Dir on Monday said that steps were being taken to enroll more children and ensure quality education in the state-run educational institutions.

District Education Officer (DEO) Moueen–ud-Din said around 1,000 schoolteachers had been appointed across the district to overcome teaching staff shortage.He was speaking at a seminar organised by a non-governmental social welfare organisation, Khwendo Kor here.

The Khwendo Kor head, Maryam Bibi, and tehsil nazim of Brawal, Jehan Alam Khan, were also present.The DEO said the basic facilities were also being made available in state-run schools to attract parents to get their children enrolled.

Moueen appreciated the KK for promotion of girls’ education and assisting the Education Department in repair of damaged buildings of government schools in Upper Dir.KK education manager, Saeedullah, said the organisation was providing up to Rs90, 000 to each school in Brawal Union Council identified by the Education Department.

He said KK was also providing bags and school uniforms to poor and orphan schoolchildren under the Programme for Poverty Reduction (PPR) initiative.
