LAHORE: Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman and Major-General Shahid Nazir planted saplings in the lawn of the Civil Secretariat here on Tuesday.
The chief secretary directed that the plantation drive be made a success. He said that the main objective of the campaign is to encourage people to plant more trees. He said that proper care should be given after planting the saplings. He ordered the forest department to start an awareness campaign about the environmental and economic benefits of trees.
FJMU launches planting campaign
As per the instructions of the Punjab government, a tree plantation drive was launched at Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) under the supervision of Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Masood Gondal here on Tuesday.
The Vice Chancellor inaugurated the spring plantation drive by planting saplings in front lawn of Fatima Jinnah Medical University and College of Nursing, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.
On this occasion, Prof Dr Khalid Masood Gondal also offered special prayers for the safety of the country and the nation, the progress and prosperity of the institution, the well-being of the ailing humanity, and the success of the students. He said there is a need to plant more trees to reduce environmental pollution.
