Senate elections: ECP issues list of KP candidates

25 candidates vying for seven general seats, while 10 for seats reserved for technocrats/religious scholars

PESHAWAR: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) released the preliminary list of candidates for the upcoming Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday.

An official from the ECP said that 25 candidates were vying for the seven general seats, while 10 submitted forms for the seats reserved for technocrats/religious scholars.

Also, seven female candidates have filed nomination forms for the two seats reserved for women.

The candidates contesting for the general seats include Murad Saeed, Faisal Javed, Khurram Zeeshan Advocate, Mirza Afridi, Azhar Mashwani, Irfan Saleem, Azam Swati, Talha Mahmood, Asif Iqbal, Dilawar Khan, Noorul Haq Qadri, Taj Muhammad Afridi, Waqas Orakzai, Niaz Muhammad, Fazal Hannan, Masoodur Rehman, Shafqat Ayaz, Asif Rafiq, Mahmood Khan, Faizur Rehman, Muhammad Naseem, Sajjad Hussain, Ahmad Mustafa, Fida Muhammad, and Attaul Haq.

The nominees for the technocrats’ seats include Azam Swati, Qazi Anwar advocate, Masoodur Rehman, Irshad Hussain, Noorul Haq Qadri, Dilawar Khan, Qaisar Khan, Waqar Ahmad Qazi, Hammad Mahmood Cheema, and Fazal Hannan.

Among the female candidates vying for the reserved Senate seats are Aysha Bano, Rubina Khalid, Mehwish Ali, Rubina Naz, Shazia, Tahira Bukhari, and Hamida Shahid.
