The repair and maintenance work at the Old Block containing gynaecology and paediatrics departments has already been completed and hopefully, the system for provision of medical gases in wards and OTs would be operational in the next 24 hours, said Principal Rawalpindi Medical College and In-charge Allied Hospitals Professor Dr. Jahangir Sarwar Khan while talking to ‘The News’ on Saturday.

He added the hospital has decided to resume all kinds of services at the gynae and paeds departments from Monday as the emergency department, OPD and indoor patient departments would be fully operational.

Almost all departments of the HFH had stopped receiving new patients in the third week of October last year due to maintenance and repair work at the hospital. The Old Block of the hospital was operating 300 beds for accommodating patients however, after the revamping, the gynae and peads departments in the Old Block would operate with 400 beds, said Medical Superintendent at HFH Dr. Ijaz Butt while talking to ‘The News’ on Saturday. He added that from Monday, the hospital would accommodate all the patients reaching its paediatrics and gynaecology departments. Actually, we have decided to utilize the Old Block of the hospital as a mother and child healthcare facility, he said.

He said both the departments have been updated and from now onwards, as many as 168 beds would be available to serve patients at the paediatrics department while Gynaecology and Obstetrics Department would operate a total of 232 beds. A number of offices operating in the Old Block are being shifted to the New Block of the hospital to create additional space for patient care, he said.

He added that the hospital is also working on provision of free of cost treatment to all patients reaching peads and gynae departments particularly in emergency and in wards. We have planned to accommodate patients through Sehat Tahaffuz Programme of the federal government, Bait-ul-Mal, Benazir Income Support Programme and health insurance program, he said.

Dr. Butt said that all the female patients reaching the gynae department of the hospital must bring their Computerized National Identity Cards with them so that they can be given treatment free of cost. Parents must bring with them the B-Farms of the children requiring treatment at the HFH enabling the hospital to provide services free of cost if possible, he said.
