There is only one hospital in Islamabad (Poly-Clinic) to care for government servants: the Federal Government Services Hospital. As such, the hospital has become overcrowded. The toilets are unclean and there are no separate windows even for elderly civil servants. Those with influence, I feel, tend to receive preferential treatment.
Based on ultrasound reports, I, an octogenarian retired civil servant, was thrice advised surgery for my gallstone. But the surgeons never operated on me, although I presented pre-operation fitness reports thrice. The FGSH also refused to admit my sick daughter. As such I had to take her to another hospital and pay a hefty fee. The health ministry should inspect the hospital’s affairs.
