CTD arrests four ‘LeJ militants’ in raid

The Sindh Police’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed on Thursday to have arrested four Lashkar-e-Jhangvi militants in Karachi.

According to the CTD spokesperson, the suspects, Amin, Shahnawaz, Maaz and Yasin, belonging to the banned sectarian terrorist outfit, were arrested during a raid conducted in the jurisdiction of the Site A police station.

The spokesperson said that four pistols were found on the suspects, who were involved in the killings of Maulana Rahimullah and Muhammad Shamim within the remits of the Pakistan Bazaar and Iqbal Market police stations, respectively.

The CTD official added that the suspects also killed a person, namely Syed Niaz Hussain, in the Manghopir area. He said that Amin had already served a nine-year sentence for murder and attempted murder, while Shahnawaz had undergone an 18-month imprisonment in similar cases. The official said that the suspects intended to expand the LeJ network in Orangi Town.
