ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways is all set to invite the private companies to run three train services under the public-private partnership—Fareed Express, Bolan Express and Khushal Khan Khattak Express—to overcome loss worth one billion rupees annually, sources told ‘The News’ here on Thursday.
“Pakistan Railways is likely to float tender in last week of this month with an aim to invite the companies operating in the private sector to run three trains under the public-private partnership. The outsourcing of these trains would help improve the system besides providing best facilities to the passengers,” the sources said. An official who requested anonymity told this correspondent that the Pakistan Railways suffered an annual loss of Rs30.5 billion in 2012-13; Rs32.5 billion in 2013-14; and Rs27.25 billion in 2014-15.
