An inaugural ceremony of the ‘Opportunities for Equitable and Modern Education’ programme was held by a nongovernmental organisationat a local hotel on Monday. Azmat Abbas told the participants that the programme hadbeen launched in five districts of Punjab, in collaboration with NRSP and SGAFP, to create awareness of human rights and civic education among madrassa students and bring them into the mainstream education system. Over 50 teachers, male and female, from madrassas of all schools of thought attended the ceremony. Hafiz Ghulam Mustafa recited from the Holy Quran. Dr Raghib Naeemi, Maulana Asadullah Farooq, Ijaz Haider and others spoke.
