MULTAN: The Indian intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), has planned the assassination of important personalities across Pakistan, security sources told The News on Saturday.
RAW had assigned its spy network to assassinate Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Jamaatud Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed, revealed sources, quoting the Punjab Home Department’s classified letter, sent to all heads of security agencies.
The letter said RAW had planned to portray the killings as retaliatory actions by extremist groups, including the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan.
The Indian agency tasked its spy network to gather information about the places in Punjab where Hafiz Saeed stays during his visits.
The Punjab Home Department has suggested in the letter to take all possible measures besides exercising extra vigilance.
The letter has been sent to the prime minister’s chief security officer, all provincial police chiefs, Punjab additional IG Special Branch, Punjab additional IG Police Counter-Terrorism Department, and others for quick action and compliance.
