Pakistan offers reward to find cricket attackers
Updated at: 1020 PST, Wednesday, March 04, 2009
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is offering a $126,000 reward for help identifying the gunmen who attacked Sri Lanka's cricket team.

Around a dozen attackers armed with guns, grenades and rocket launchers attacked the visiting players in the eastern city of Lahore on Tuesday. The assault underscored the challenges facing Pakistan as it battles rising Islamist violence. Six police officers and a driver were killed. Seven players, an umpire and an assistant coach were wounded, but none of the injuries was life threatening.

Pakistan's Punjab province took out advertisements in newspapers Wednesday offering the reward. The ad showed two alleged attackers, one dressed in brown and the other blue, and both carrying backpacks and guns.
