Fashion Awards 2019: Standout beauty looks

December 8, 2019

This week celebrities took their beauty A-game to the 2019 British Fashion Awards red carpet. Here are some of the most gorgeous looks of the night…

Earlier this week the 30th edition of the British Fashion Awards returned to the Royal Albert Hall in London, where the most-coveted designers, top models and stylish celebrities gathered to celebrate the biggest names in the fashion industry. This year’s ceremony, which was hosted by award-winning American actress and producer Tracee Ellis Ross, saw some of our favourite celebrities looking phenomenal on the red carpet, donning some of the most stylish ensembles along with glamorous makeup. Being one of the biggest nights on the fashion calendar, it was no surprise that the evening’s red carpet was buzzing with standout fashion moments and the style quotient definitely caught everyone’s fancy.

Here’s a recap of the ultimate hair and makeup inspirations, from glittering embellished pieces to stunning makeup looks and trendy hairstyles…

Julia Roberts

Hollywood’s sweetheart, Julia Roberts wore an Armani Prive sparkling black jumpsuit. Styled by Elizabeth Stewart, the actress paired the crystal embellished number with a pair of striking blue drop-earrings from Irene Neuwirth‘s botanical collection. The Pretty Woman actress opted for natural-looking makeup – flushed cheeks, black eyeliner and rosy pink lip colour. As for her hair, stylist Serge Normant — the hairstylist behind Meghan Markle’s perfectly-imperfect wedding chignon – went with voluminous, tousled waves.

Rita Ora

English singer, songwriter and actress Rita Ora turned up at the glitzy ceremony wearing a 16Arlington bespoke black and white paneled leather gown. The floor-length dress with a Bardot neckline was paired with a matching choker. Rita opted for a wet-look as far as her hair was concerned; however it was her swirling glittery blue eye look by makeup artist Marie Bruce that stole the show. According to Bruce, she created Rita’s mesmerizing asymmetric design using PermaGel Ultra Glide Eye Pencil in Blitz Blue.

Cate Blanchett

Two-time Academy Award winning actress Cate Blanchett looked as if she’d stepped out of a fairytale in shimmering ivory tulle Armani Prive gown. The Australian beauty’s look featured voluminous tulle ruffling around the neckline and a thick satin belt accentuated her narrow waist. Legendary makeup artist Mary Greenwell swiped on a petal-pink lipstick from Giorgio Armani Beauty (Blanchett is a face of the brand), while hairstylist and colorist Nicola Clarke styled her hair into a gorgeous French twist. She accessorized her look with chandelier earrings.

Rihanna

Rihanna, whose brand Fenty won the Urban Luxe category, looked stunning in a wasabi green Fenty mini dress amping up the style ante with a pair of complementing gloves and satin strappy heels. The singer and beauty mogul layered an oversized sheer shirt over a structured mini dress with jeweled harness that gave the effect of a corset dress. While she paired her look with diamond earrings and a choker, Rihanna kept her makeup minimal with a glossy nude lip, a subtle contour, soft brown eye makeup and tons of mascara for that dramatic effect. She wore her hair in braids – Fulani braids, to be exact — that formed a circular pattern around her head.

Chiara Ferragni

Italian fashion blogger, designer and entrepreneur Chiara Ferragni went with a custom Etro gold and silver fil-coupe georgette gown with emerald green paisleys giving off Little Mermaid vibes. She paired the dress, which had cut-out detailing around the waist and a thigh-high split, with a half-up hairstyle and nude heels. Makeup artist Manuele Mameli matched Ferragni’s lids to her sparkly gown using shimmering emerald green eyeshadow. A touch of gold shadow placed at the inner corners of her eyes offered a highlight, making it look extra festive.

Naomi Campbell

Super model Naomi Campbell, who bagged the Fashion Icon award, chose to wear an Alexander McQueen custom made tulle evening gown embroidered with 3D roses and a high neckline. Her hair was styled in glam loose waves, while her twinkly bronze lids were as sparkly as her gown. To finish off her look Campbell opted for a two-toned glossy lip colour that ensured full, pouty lips.
