Poetry session held at Hamza Baba’s tomb

LANDIKOTAL: The Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Department of the Fata Secretariat held a poetry recital session at the tomb of known Pashto poet Amir Hamza Khan Shinwari here.

Known poets from all the seven tribal regions and six Frontier Regions participated in the session. All the poets including Hamza Baba’s son Kaleem Shinwari, Muhammad Ismail Siyar, Amir Orakzai,Yousaf Hussain Yousaf, Gohar Wazir, Noor Alam, Shaukat Aziz Shaukat and Abdul Nasir presented their poetry on peace.

Director Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Fata Muhammad Tayyab Abdullah was chief guest on the occasion.

Tayyab said that poets represented a nation and gave youth and soldiers a vision for development and patriotism. He added that Pakhtuns have many great poets including Hamza Shinwari.

Narcotics seized: The security personnel seized narcotics in separate actions in Landikotal tehsil of Khyber Agency, official sources said.

The paramilitary personnel stopped a vehicle near Ziaray checkpost and recovered hashish weighing hundreds of kilograms from it. They also arrested the driver, identified as Razzaq Khan. Separately, the security forces raided a compound in Ali Masjid area and recovered 50kg hashish.

On a tip-off, two Afghan nationals were arrested with 2kg heroin and 1kg hashish at Torkham border on their way to Pakistan. Dunya Gul and Bakhtiar, residents of Jalalabad, were later sent to the Landikotal lockup.
