PESHAWAR: Investigations into embezzlement in the Rs850 million funds set aside for the pro-government Aman Lashkars in South Waziristan Agency have went down the drain and the KP governor is silent on this issue.
The Senate Standing Committee has noticed the situation. According to details, the federal government set aside massive funds for these Lashkars in 2012-2013 but they have been embezzled by the Fata Secretariat and political administration. When investigation started, additional chief secretary of Fata challenged the jurisdiction of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and got a stay order from the court.
People Accountability Forum Fata Chairman Eng Ghani Gul Mehsud said that KP governor, Fata Secretariat and federal government institutions were silent on the issue. He said the president had issued an ordinance stating that all payments in Fata will be made through cross cheque but the political administration is still giving people hard cash.
He said Rs750 million earmarked for heirs of martyrs have also been embezzled and they have moved court on this matter. He said the Senate body has sought all record on the issue.
