SHANGHAI/KARACHI: Habib Bank Limited (HBL) has been awarded the “Issuer of the Year” in the Middle-East and North Africa (MENA) region by UnionPay International, a statement said Tuesday. The award ceremony was held at the headquarters of UnionPay International in Shanghai. UnionPay International CEO Cai Jianbo, HBL Payment Services Head Faiq Sadiq and other senior officials of both organisations attended the event.
HBL also launched UnionPay Online Payment (UPOP) which enables UnionPay debit cards issued by HBL to be used for online transactions for e-commerce and also enables online e-commerce businesses to accept UnionPay cards for payment on their websites. Faiq Sadiq said, “HBL is proud and honoured to receive the Issuer of the Year award from UnionPay for the second consecutive year.”
