Valuables burnt in house fire
LAHORE
Valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees were burnt in a fire erupted in a house at Township on Friday.
Rescue officials said the fire broke out in a house near sector block number one due to a short-circuit. The residents of the house tried to control it but failed. They called rescue teams who put it out. No casualty was reported.

Rescue officials said the fire broke out in the car in front of Mall of Lahore. The car riders hardly saved their lives. The vehicle exploded with a sudden blast in a few moments of eruption of the fire. Rescue officials extinguished the fire. No loss of life or injury was reported.
BODY: A 5o-year-old unidentified man was found dead in the Badami Bagh railway police area on Friday.
A passerby informed police about the man lying unconscious. Police shifted him to hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead. Police said he looked an addict and he might have died of an overdose of drugs. However, they said, autopsy would help ascertain the cause of his death. Police are searching for his family.
found dead: The body of a 25-year-old man was found lying in a plaza in the Sundar area on Friday morning.
Police said the body was spotted on the roof of Rangeen Plaza, Jahangir Road. Police have removed it to morgue and collected forensic evidences.
Police said that the victim had an injury mark on his head. They have registered a murder case against unidentified suspects on the complaint of the victim’s father.
Overseas Pakistanis: Punjab Additional Chief Secretary Shamail Ahmad Khawaja has directed the district administration to set up special cells for timely redress of complaints of overseas Pakistanis.
He chaired a meeting of Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC), Punjab, at the Civil Secretariat. OPC Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti, Director General Hassan Iqbal and Police Matters Additional DG/DIG Ahmed Mubeen were also present. The DCO and police officers of Bahawalpur district participated in the meeting through video link.
Shamail Khawaja said that the district level special cells would be closely connected with local police and other departments so that the complaints of overseas Pakistanis could be disposed of well in time. OPC Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti said the commission was maintaining close liaison with the provincial and district administration.
Shamail Khawaja, commending the efforts of OPC, said the Punjab government was committed to providing full support to the overseas Pakistanis in addressing their genuine issues.
ACCIDENTS: At least 536 road accidents were reported to the Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service, Rescue 1122, from all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.
Seven people were killed and 447 badly injured in the accidents. The injured were shifted to hospitals. However, some 191 victims who sustained minor injuries were provided with first aid by the emergency medical teams.
security: DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf has ordered police to take action against educational institutes and banks if they fail in making proper security arrangements.
According to a press release, the DIG visited various banks in the city on Friday. He directed police to check security arrangements at all educational institutes and banks, including weapons of their guards, their training, working of CCTV cameras, barbed wire, alarm system and boundary wall.
He ordered police to take strict action against the institutions if they failed in taking security measures.
Dr Ashraf warned that action would also be taken against the SHO, DSP and SP concerned if he found inadequate security arrangements at banks and educational institutes in their areas.
Seniority: Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Mushtaq Sukhera has issued a notification to fix seniority of 33 DSPs who were demoted in the case of out-of-turn promotions following the order of Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The officials include Tahir Nawaz, Niaz, Mukhtar Hussain, Shahid Razzaq Qureshi, Ghulam Abbas, Shahid Niaz, Noor Muhammad, Khawar Zaman, Ijaz Shafi and Masroor Ahmad.
sacked: Chief Traffic Officer Tayyab Cheema has dismissed two traffic wardens from service over long absence from their duty without any intimation to the department.
The wardens are Tauqeer and Tauseef.
Meanwhile, the CTO reviewed performance of traffic education team in spreading awareness about the dangers of wheelie. Traffic wardens distributed pamphlets among the people at major roads, roundabout and public places.
