Peshawar cop injured in IED blast dies

PESHAWAR: A policeman who had sustained injuries in a bomb attack on the Shakipura Road in the limits of Daudzai Police Station died of his wounds on Tuesday. Four policemen were wounded when a roadside bomb went off on the Shakirpura Road Monday night. The wounded were rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital for emergency treatment where one of the cops Abdul Rahman later succumbed to his injuries. A number of blasts targeting police and others have occurred, especially in areas on Charsadda Road and Warsak Road in the last few weeks. Three suicide bombers were also killed in a blast when they were moving for a major attack in Mathra. A day earlier, twin blasts injured a number of people including police and media personnel. In Daudzai, a sub-inspector was killed and two others were wounded in a blast last week. More incidents were also reported in the areas in the last few days. Besides, a senior officer of the Frontier Constabulary along with guard and driver as well as few others have fell victims to target killing in the last few weeks.
13kg of hashish seized in Nowshera operation

NOWSHERA: The police arrested eight drug-traffickers and seized 13 kilograms of hashish during an operation against the outlaws in the district on Tuesday, an official said. Speaking at a press conference, District Police Officer Wahid Mehmood said the police launched an operation against the drug-traffickers in Khandar, Pir Sabaq, Ziarat Kaka Sahib, Town and Manki Sharif against the drug-traffickers. The official said the police arrested eight drug-traffickers and recovered 13kg of hashish from their possession.
Man jailed for hoisting defunct outfit’s flag

FAISALABAD: Anti-Terrorism Court Special Judge Raja Pervaiz Akhtar on Tuesday awarded 3.6 years imprisonment and Rs100,000 fine to Muhammad Rizwan in a case of hoisting the flag of a defunct outfit. According to the prosecution, the convict had hoisted the flag of a defunct outfit on his house on May 20.
Three killed in Haripur accident

HARIPUR: Three persons were killed and two others sustained injuries when a vehicle fell into a ravine in the limits of Ghazi Police Station here on Tuesday. Police officials said a motorcar was on its way to Mansehra from Ghazi when it plunged into the gorge near the Kotkay village in Sirikot apparently due to reckless driving. As a result, three persons identified as Sheen Gul, Muhammad Ayub and Bilal, all Afghan nationals, were killed on the spot. Two of the injured were identified as Khalida Bibi and Khalid. Locals reached the spot and shifted the dead and injured to Women and Children Hospital, Haripur.
Two killed as roof collapses

KOHAT: A woman and her daughter were killed and two persons sustained injuries when the roof of a room collapsed in the Bilitang area on Tuesday, sources said. They said Peer Ishtiaq’s wife and his daughter were killed and his two nephews received serious injuries when the roof of the dilapidated house collapsed. Soon after the incident, the locals were rushed to the place and retrieved the bodies and rescued the injured. The injured were shifted to a hospital in Kohat.
Target killer’s facilitator held

SWABI: An alleged facilitator of a target killer and member of the notorious ‘Zarar Group’ was arrested here on Tuesday. A communiqué said that the officials of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), Mardan, carried out raids in Mian Killay in Charbagh area of Swabi and arrested Shah Fahad, the facilitator of target killer Javed alias Zarar and a resident of Jehangir Pura in Karnal Sher Killay. Police have also recovered a hand-grenade, a pistol and ammunition from the possession of the accused.
Man, son awarded death sentence

FAISALABAD: Additional Sessions Judge Nasir Ali on Tuesday awarded death on two counts to Younis of Khurrianwala and his son Awais in a double murder case. The prosecution said that the convicts had gunned down Azizur Rehman and his son Muhammad Suleman over a land dispute in 2015.
PAKPATTAN: Six people, including four children, were abducted in two incidents here. In the first incident, seven people, including Imran, came to the house of Allah Rakha at Chak Nizam Din and allegedly abducted two women and children Ashraf and Ballu. In the second incident, Saeed and two others came to the house of a widow at Mohallah Eidgah and allegedly abducted her daughters Maria, 8, and Shumaila, 6. Police have registered a case and started investigation.
