Four killed in Kohistan road accident

MANSEHRA Four persons were killed and three others sustained injures when a passenger van plunged into a ravine in Pattan area of Kohistan district on Tuesday.“The van, on its way to Rawalpindi from Gilgit, collided with a truck in a bid to overtake another vehicle and fell into the ravine,” an official said. Three persons were killed on the spot while another succumbed to his injuries in a nearby hospital.Three of the dead were identified as Mohammad Ismail, a resident of Pattan, Uzair, resident of Chumogar area of Gilgit-Baltistan and Akhtar.
Two facilitators of terrorists arrested

MINGORA: The Counter-Terrorism Department arrested two facilitators of terrorists in Shangla district, official sources said on Tuesday. They said the CTD arrested Ijazur Rehman and Zahirullah in Shangla and shifted them to an undisclosed location for an interrogation. The arrested persons were alleged facilitators of terrorists.
Sepah tribe condemns shelling by Afghan forces

PESHAWAR: A grand jirga of Sepah tribe in Khyber Agency has condemned the shelling by Afghan forces on civilians. The jirga was held at the office of political agent of Khyber Agency and was chaired by Malik Mohammad Ali Afridi, the chief of Sepah. Tribal elders Mohammad Ayub, Said Marjan, Waris Khan, Sabir Shah and others attended the Jirga. The jirga expressed anger over the use of heavy artillery by the Afghan forces on Pakistani soil. The participants condemned the Afghan forces for causing injuries to a number of civilians. The jirga assured full support to the security forces, saying the tribal people would not hesitate to render any sacrifice for the country. The elders praised the political administration for taking a number of measures for the welfare of the tribesmen. Another tribal elder Malik Abdul Ghaffar Kukikhel also announced support to the security forces.
Terrorist arrested in Peshawar explosives seized

PESHAWAR: The Counter-Terrorism Department thwarted a major terror bid and recovered two suicide jackets and explosives from an alleged terrorist in Shabqadar, officials said on Tuesday. They said an action was carried out in Shabqadar during which one suspect was rounded up and two suicide jackets, 10 kilograms of explosives, six batteries, two hand-grenades, as many Kalashnikovs and ammunition were recovered from him. The police said the arrested man was taken to an unknown place for interrogation while raids are being conducted to arrest other accomplices.
13 booked for overcharging in Takhtbhai

TAKHTBHAI: About 13 shopkeepers and vendors were booked on the charges of profiteering and selling substandard food items here on Tuesday. Assistant Commissioner Ashfaq Ahmad Khan and other officials visited the bazaars in Takhtbhai and Shergarh after the complaints received from customers against butchers, fruit and milk vendors as well as grocery traders. Those booked included Zahid Khan, Farmanullah, Alamgir, Nek Muhammad Khan, Zahid Khan, Khial, Samar Gul, Arshad Khan, Aminul Haq and others.
Five terrorists killed in

QUETTA: Five terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces and police near the Airport Road in Quetta.Security forces and police conducted a raid on a compound on a tip-off near Airport Road. The terrorists opened fire at the security forces and in retaliation they killed five terrorists.Seven hand grenades, explosive material, two home-made bombs, three Kalashnikovs and two pistols were recovered from their possession.
Former ANP MPA arrested in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: A former member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Ateefur Rahman was booked on Tuesday for illegal power connections to his hujra.Police along with the officials of the Pesco raided the building and found an illegal connection. The cops later filed a first information report in the Wapda House police station. The former MPA, however, could not be arrested. Ateef was MPA of the Awami National Party.
Tribal clash claims two lives in Sukkur

SUKKUR: Two people were killed and seven others injured during a clash between Abra and Mahar tribes in Larkana. The deceased were identified as Irfan and Fayaz Mahar. Police arrested several people and established a post there to keep peace in the area.
