Two booked in transgender murder case
SSP says raids continuing to nab fleeing accused
PESHAWAR: Police have arrested two out of three accused involved in the murder of Alisha, a transgender, while raids were being conducted to nab the third one who is still at large, a senior official said on Thursday.
Senior Superintendent Police (SSP), Operations, Abbas Majeed Marwat told the members of Transgender Association led by, Farzana, president of Transgender Association, that two accused have been arrested in the murder case of Alisha while the third identified as one Fazal Khan would be arrested soon. He added that special teams were constituted for his arrest.
The leaders of Transgender Association demanded protection and discussed ways to stop rampant violence against them. The SSP, after hearing their concerns and complaints against police’s non-cooperation in the cases of violence and murder of transgender, assured his full cooperation in future.
The police official asked the transgenders to install CCTV cameras at their residences and keep their CNICs with them as a security measure. The Transgender Association President Farzana also assured the police of full cooperation.
