BANNU: The main entrance of the house of a retired Customs officer was destroyed on Tuesday as a bomb planted near the gate went off in Mandan area here, police officials said.
They said the windowpanes of the adjacent houses were also broken due to the powerful explosion. They said that unidentified miscreants had planted an explosive device near the main entrance to the house of retired Customs officer Akhtar Ali Khan in Garirah Shah Jehan area.
The cops said the explosion that took place early in the day destroyed the main gate of the house. However, they said it caused no casualty.
Akhtar Ali Khan alleged that militants affiliated with the proscribed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had made threatening phone calls to him and demanded Rs1.5 million as extortion money. He said it was the third time that the militants had attacked his house.
