Pakistan Capoeira Academy (PCA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with National Press Club (NPC) under which, PCA will provide free Capoeira training to the children of journalists both at NPC and Brazilian Embassy.
PCA concluded its two weeks “Capoeira” training workshop at NPC for media and press community on Sunday. Under the said MoU Journalists and their children will continue their training at Brazilian embassy where PCA instructors Shayan Ali and Fawaz Mir will give them training on regular basis.
Capoeira is a Brazilian traditional martial art that combines the elements of dance, music, gymnastics, self-defence and fighting. It is a unique martial art in a sense that the objective of the game is not to defeat the opponent but to display the set of skills in a physical dialogue. Capoeira is very famous for fast and complex moves including a wide variety of kicks, spins, dodges, fast counter-attacks and highly mobile techniques.
PCA is the first national level academy of Brazilian Capoeira in Pakistan started with the support of Brazil foreign mission in Islamabad back in February 2015. PCA president and instructor Shayan Ali is the first Capoeira player and teacher in Pakistan trained in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil at ABADA Capoeira under Mestre Canguru and Mestre Camisa. He has also affiliated Pakistan with ABADA Capoeira in Brazil, which has over 41,000 members in more than 40 countries. Recently Pakistan Capoeira Federation is also being affiliated with Pakistan Sports Board along with provincial and district Capoeira associations.
PCA members expressed their excitement over the successful completion of training workshop and said that they will continue training once a month at NPC for children of journalists and media community.
