ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his brother Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif are proceeding to Istanbul today (Saturday) along with their respective family members to attend wedding ceremony of Sumeyye Erdogan, daughter of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s, being taken place Saturday evening.
She is going to tie her knot with Selcuk Bayraktar, a defense industrialist engineer producing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). President Erdogan has invited five heads of state/government for the event including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Azerbaijan President Ilham Heydar Oghlu Aliyev and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani along with their spouses.
The later have already travelled to Istanbul. Turkish President personally made phone calls to his international guests last week for extending the invitation. The sources told The News here Friday that First Lady Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, daughter of Prime Minister Nawaz Maryam Nawaz, his granddaughter (younger daughter of Maryam Nawaz) Mahnoor Safdar, Shahbaz Sharif’s wife, his younger son Salman Shahbaz and his wife will accompany the prime minister in the ceremony.
No senior official is accompanying the prime minister except his personal staff in brief number. The daughter of President Erdogan got engaged at a low key gathering at the Huber Palace in Istanbul’s Tarabya district by the Bosphorus in March last.
The couple will get married in a wedding ceremony at the Yahya Kemal Beyatl, Cultural Center in Istanbul.
