BAHAWALPUR: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday said they had repeatedly asked the government to implement the National Action Plan (NAP) in letter and spirit but it did not take any step in that direction, giving terrorists the freedom to kill innocent people.
Bilawal cancelled his engagements on the last day of his visit to Bahawalpur in solidarity with the Lahore attack victims and participated in a special fateha khawani held at the Ashraf Sugar Mills.
He expressed his grief over the killing of innocent children and women in the suicide bombing.Speaking on the occasion, he said the government was using the NAP against its political opponents instead of using it against the militants and terrorists.
He demanded that the Punjab government should immediately execute the NAP, particularly in southern Punjab, to eliminate terrorists.Bilawal called for vigorous counterterrorism policing in Punjab, saying terrorism could never be eradicated through press releases issued by government ministries and anti-terrorism advertisements.
Earlier, the participants observed 30-second silence for the victims of Lahore carnage. Later, Bilawal left for Karachi by helicopter.Meanwhile, talking to the media PPP General Secretary Latif Khosa claimed that there was no writ of the government in Islamabad and Lahore, which was a matter of grave concern.
Condemning the Lahore blast and Islamabad rioting, he said had the federal and Punjab governments fully implemented the NAP, innocent children and women would not have been martyred and the federal capital had not been devastated.
