RAW operative was given task to sabotage CPEC
ISLAMABAD: RAW agent Kul Bhashan Yadav, who was arrested by law enforcement agencies from Quetta, revealed during preliminary investigations that his main agenda was to sabotage the CPEC through propaganda and create disharmony among the Baloch nationalist political parties.
Following his arrest, the federal government has devised a strategy as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, during his upcoming visit to Washington, will take up this issue not only with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi but also President Obama and other important leaders, who will gather there to attend the Nuclear Security Summit scheduled on March 31.
Yadev – a Commander in the Indian Navy – entered Balochistan through the Afghan border. He crossed the Pak-Afghan border 12 times. When the law enforcement agencies arrested him five days ago, he was in Balochistan for the last 15 days.
The initial investigation reveals that Yadev, during his latest stay, contacted various Baloch nationalist leaders and insurgents, including perhaps Dr Allah Nazar Baloch, to execute the task to damage the CPEC project. In this regard, he also distributed millions of rupees among the nationalists and insurgents in the troubled province.
The law enforcement agencies for the last eight months monitored Yadev’s movement and activities and arrested him after collecting ample evidence. They also recovered Afghan and Pakistani SIMs as well as maps from his possession.
Out of the total more than 15 Indian consulates in Afghanistan, the majority are located near the Pakistan border and Yadev was stationed at Kandahar. He was part of a special desk set up by RAW to sabotage the CPEC.
Sources told The News that the prime minister had directed DG Intelligence Bureau Aftab Sultan to brief him on the latest situation with regard to the RAW agent so that he could raise the issue during his US visit.
