Recruitment of 2,300 FDE eachers begins
Islamabad
The process to recruit 2,300 highly-qualified teachers for the government educational institutions run by the Federal Directorate of Education in Islamabad has begun.
These appointments will be made purely on merit, Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhary while chairing a meeting of the Academic Authority here on Thursday.
“A comprehensive training programme will be launched to keep the teachers abreast with the latest teaching methodologies. The teachers' training will be attached with their career progression and promotion. The dream of quality education cannot be realized without qualified teachers,” he said.
The minister said Islamabad’s educational institutions were being developed as a role model for other parts of the country in line with the vision of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
He said improvement in the learning outcome of students was the real goal of the PM Education Reforms Programme.
The minister said the upgradation of infrastructure and provision of facilities would ensure a conducive and learning friendly environment at schools.
He informed the participants that work for the upgradation of Islamabad’s 22 schools and colleges had been completed in the first phase of the programme, while work on 200 more educational institutions was in progress.
“The remaining 200 schools and colleges will be upgraded in the third phase with the whole process taking from 12 to 18 months to complete,” he said.
Meanwhile, after long delays, the Departmental Promotion Committee of the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) is likely to meet next week to consider the promotion cases of the teachers of Islamabad's federal government colleges.
According to an official in the know, the DPC meeting is scheduled for March 29 (Tuesday) after postponement for three times.
The last such meeting had taken place in March 2014.
The official said the DPC was scheduled to meet on February 3 but was put off until February 8 and even it didn't meet on February 8.
He said the DPC meeting was rescheduled for March 17 but again, it didn't take place.
The official said the committee was likely to consider the cases of the promotion of 17 BPS-18 college teachers, including nine women and men each, and two junior section teachers.
He said some among such teachers including principals had been served in BPS-17 for more than 15 years.
The official said the DPC didn't meet due to the vacancy of the FDE director general, who was a permanent member of it.
He said as Dr. Ali Ahmad Kharal had assumed the FDE chief’s post on permanent basis of late, there was no hurdle to the holding of the DPC meeting to examine the teachers promotion cases.
