SUKKUR: The Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Margaret Adamson, on Tuesday visited the US-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W) at the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology in Jamshoro and met USPCAS-W and MUET officials.
She said she was delighted to see that research was being done in the water sector in Pakistan, and that a dedicated water research centre was established at the MUET.
She said that Australia was very much committed to have an academic collaboration in the water sector of this region. The high commissioner said that six Australian universities had signed partnership documents with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for academic collaboration.
She said that Australia always supported educational and economic development of Pakistan. Adamson said that the scope of the USPCAS-W could be extended to the regional level as water was a shared commodity.
She appreciated the MUET for imparting quality education and conducting research across the country. Dr. Ghous Bux Khaskheli, acting vice chancellor of MUET, told the Australian High Commissioner that the MUET was one of the top Pakistani universities according to the HEC ranking 2015.
