Woman commits suicide
LAHORE
A 26-year-old woman reportedly set herself ablaze after a dispute with her husband in the Hair police limits on Tuesday.
The victim identified as Rahila of Ismail Pura was the mother of three children. She exchanged harsh words with her husband Salamat Maseehi on an issue. Later, she set herself ablaze and came out of her house raising a hue and cry.
The locals of the area tried to extinguish the fire and shifted her to a nearby hospital where the doctors pronounced her as brought dead. The area SHO said an FIR would be registered after a forensic report.
shot dead: A 35-year-old man was shot dead by an unidentified man in the Shahdara Town police limits. The area SHO said victim Mian Sajjad of Ferozewala was coming to Lahore on a rickshaw when near Railway Phatak on Kala Khatai Road he was shot dead. He said the victim might have been killed over an old enmity. The killer managed to escape.
CASH RETURNED: National Highways & Motorway Police returned Rs 200,000 to its owner, upholding the core values of honesty, courtesy and rendering help to the road users. This was stated by Motorway Police spokesman Syed Imran Ahmed in a handout. Police officers Riaz Ahmed and Faisal Masood of Beat 16 found the money on highway near Chicha Watni. A citizen, Farhan Ashraf, of Sahiwal informed Helpline 130 about the loss of his bag. The police traced the owner of the bag and cash and handed over them to him. NH&MP DIG Mirza Faran Baig appreciated the officers and granted them commendation certificates and cash reward.
ACCIDENTS: At least 643 accidents were reported in Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours in which eight lives were lost and 534 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of the relevant districts. Some 231 victims who sustained minor injuries were discharged on the spot after giving them first aid by the emergency medical teams.
arrested: Iqbal Town police arrested four robbers and recovered booty and weapons from their possession.
The arrested robbers identified as Awais, Adil, Zeeshan and Mateen had confessed to committing 20 robberies in various parts of the city. Police recovered cash Rs100,000, two bikes and weapons from their possession.
