After giving viewers plenty of comedic moments in his big screen directorial debut Karachi Se Lahore, director Wajahat Rauf is all set to take the story forward with the sequel, Lahore Se Aage (working title). After giving viewers plenty of comedic moments in his big screen directorial debut Karachi Se Lahore, director Wajahat Rauf is all set to take the story forward with the sequel, Lahore Se Aage (working title). With Saba Qamar as the female lead opposite Yasir Hussain, who is set to reprise his role of Moti, rest assured, the jokes will keep rolling.

“It’s kind of a spin-off,” Wajahat Rauf told Instep in a quick telephonic conversation. “The movie will start from where it ended the last time. It is a journey based in Punjab as well as the Northern areas of Pakistan. The genre is similar to the first part as this one is also a comedy but it is going to be bigger and better; it will be high on energy.”

Karachi Se Lahore gets a sequel

This sequel/spin-off will feature Saba Qamar in the role of a struggling Lahore-based musician. And except for Yasir Hussain, other cast members will not reprise their roles; instead they may be seen in cameo appearances.  “Except Yasir Hussain, the rest of the cast is new including Behroze Sabzwari and Rubina Ashraf in supporting roles,” Wajahat confirmed.

If there’s one criticism that has trailed Karachi Se Lahore, it’s the fact that the film felt like one long Cornetto commercial. Keeping in mind the criticism, Wajahat is promising to play the commercial game intelligently. In other words, the overt sponsorship will get subtle with the sequel. The shooting of this particular project will begin in March. Tentatively titled Lahore Se Aage, the film is slated to release later this year.
