Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, who was recently spotted vacationing in London with husband Saif Ali Khan, has had a string of flops but that hasn’t deterred Kareena from signing ambitious films.
After impressing critics with her performance in R. Balki’s Ki and Ka as a career woman, Bebo will soon be seen as a doctor in the Shahid Kapoor-starrer Udta Punjab. Adding more weight to her resume is the film Veera Di Shaadi, an all-girls adventure in which she will essay the lead role.
Though the film is being produced by Sonam Kapoor’s sister Rhea Kapoor, Sonam will be playing a supporting role in the film unlike Rhea’s previous productions.
According to India Today, “Kareena Kapoor refused to play second fiddle to Sonam who had to step down for Kareena to play the lead role in this chick flick.”
While Kareena will essay the lead role of Veera in the film, the story is supposedly inspired from the Hollywood film, The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pant and will see this girl gang travel to Europe from Delhi.
“Kareena loved the script and the idea of acting in a chick flick for the first time,” a source close to the film told India Today. “She made sure that hers is the meatiest role and that the story revolves around her character. Kareena is being very choosy about her roles now,” the source added.
Directed by Shashank Ghosh, Veera Di Shaadi will also feature Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania in supporting roles.
