HOUSTON: Muhammad Saeed Sheikh, President of Houston Karachi Sister City Association, has been selected for Sister Cities International’s 60th Anniversary Circle of Distinguished Volunteers Award.
He would be the first member from any Sister Cities of Houston to receive the honor.
The Sister Cities International Circle of Distinguished Volunteers was created to honor the individuals that continue legacy of President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s of peace. The award recognizes these individuals for their dedication, services, and commitments to furthering the Sister Cities International mission and purpose over the years.
Circle members will be highlighted throughout the Sister Cities International 60th Anniversary celebration in Washington, D.C. on July 13th to July 16th and will be formally recognized at the Lou Wozar Diplomatic Awards Dinner at the Mayflower Hotel on the closing day of the conference.
The participants will gain important tools and diverse connects to bring change in their local communities.
An estimated 700 national leaders, international diplomats, mayors, local elected and municipal officials, business executives, educators, and students from more than 30 countries will gather in Washington, D.C. to celebrate the history and achievements of Sister City partnerships across the world.
Sister Cities International was founded by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956, which serves as the national membership organization for over 545 individual sister cities, counties, and states across the United States with relationships in over 2,100 communities in 145 countries.
