ISLAMABAD: Following the directives of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said there would be no load shedding during Sehr and Iftar timings in the holy month of Ramazan.
The Prime Minister has directed the ministry of water and power to ensure equal electricity supply in rural and urban areas during Sehr and Iftar timings. The PM Office will strictly monitor the load shedding timings.
Khawaja Asif said despite severe heat there is no unannounced load shedding in the country.
He said electricity shortfall has reduced to 4,000 MW.
Minister said the government has closed some plants that produce expensive electricity which can also be made operational if a need arises.
Khawaja Asif said there are hundreds of feeders in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where zero load shedding is being observed.
