KARACHI: Inspector General Sindh Police, A.D. Khawaja Wednesday said it was the detonator and not a hand grenade that exploded in an anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday.
“Had the hand grenade exploded, it would have caused much more damage,” the IG Sindh said in a statement issued here.
He said an inquiry committee has been set up on the directive of the Supreme Court over the explosion in ATC. A report is now being prepared on the orders of the apex court, he added.
The IG Sindh said the explosion occurred after a constable pulled the pin from a hand grenade. He said effective measures are being adopted to avoid such incidents in future.
