CSS exams delayed for several reasons
Tuesday, March 10, 2009
By our correspondent

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has finally put off the Central Superior Services (CSS) examinations till April 25, 2009 due to an internal strike and the long-march-cum-Dharna. The examinations were scheduled from March 14.

While the long march dates fall on the days of the CSS papers but the FPSC had neither dispatched roll slips to all the candidates nor were its internal arrangements complete amid an unprecedented strike against the two sitting top bosses.

A commission official confirmed to The News that the CSS examinations had been rescheduled and would start from April 25, almost after a delay of six weeks due to the violent political scene in the country.

The same member also said the officials’ strike at the FPSC offices throughout the country was another reason as well as the delay in announcing the results of the previous year’s canidates following their interviews after they had cleared written papers.

“Yes, it’s true that the exams have been postponed but the reason is the long march and the law and order situation in the country,” FPSC Member Syed Masood Alam Rizvi told The News shortly after a high-level FPSC session.

The media department of the FPSC also confirmed the delay. “We are shortly issuing a statement, announcing to postpone the papers till the 25th of the next month,” was his response. At the same time, the results of interviews of the previous year’s qualifying candidates are yet to be declared against the expected March 9-10 date. “We expect that the results would be placed on the website as well as in gazette form on coming Wednesday.” As many as 9,053 candidates are taking part in the examinations 2009.
