CJP Chaudhry and former AGP Khosa trade barbs in open court, isn’t very sad?
Former Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP), Latif Khan Khosa facing charges of taking bribe in the name of judges has categorically rejected the charges and raised objection on Chief Justice Pakistan (CJP), Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heading the bench.

A three-member bench headed by CJP Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, while hearing the allegation against former AGP and currently Prime Minister’s Advisor, Latif Khan Khosa, directed him to submit his detailed reply within two weeks.

The convict, Maghfoor Shah, a former general manager in the National Highway Authority, had been sentenced to five years’ imprisonment and fined over Rs3 million and 200,000 US dollars after having been found guilty of corruption. After failing to get relief from the Supreme Court, he claims to have bribed Mr. Khosa for his help.

In an unprecedented move CJP Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry had summoned the former AGP to an open court hearing Wednesday to reply the allegations.

Latif Khosa rejected the charges framed against him and raised objections on Chief Justice for conducting the hearing. Exchange of harsh words also took place between Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry and Latif Khosa. The court adjourned the hearing for two weeks and issued notices to Umer Daraz, Munshi of Latif Khosa, Deputy Attorney General Dil Muhammad Alizai and Mian Tariq Advocate.

Talking to media after the hearing, Latif Khosa blamed that Chief Justice was responsible for the insult he faced in a gathering some times ago. He said chief justice should not hear the case. Khosa termed the allegations against him as baseless.

Earlier a few days ago, the prime minister’s press secretary Imran Gardezi had confirmed Khosa would now work as adviser to the prime minister and would cease to hold the portfolio of AGP.

I am totally against the policy of forgive and forget or when favorites are declared clean and pure because they are sorry for their past crimes. If this is the case then every one in the jail, who is sorry should be released. All these corrupt politicians, Generals, Judges and bureaucrats must pay for their crimes. They should also justify their assets in Pakistan and abroad. If the court wants to punish Latif Khosa for taking a bribe of Rs 30 Lakhs, then it must go after prominent politicians, Generals and others who made billions by illegal means. It appears settling some scores with Khosa, an act of personal vendetta and revenge.

They let it go under the carpets, pointing finger is no good habit.

We all expected a lot from the present setup under CJ Chaudhery. What has been observed is that the most to benefit from the restoration are Sharifs. We are already fighting on so many fronts. Khosa is right when he said that this matter could have been settled in the office of our CJ. Now the sound of trumpet has come out, we hope that all will go well as per Law of the land. We are still waiting for some visible results from the corruption in the lower courts and speedy justice.

A common Pakistani feels so hopeful and strong ever since, the "untouchable" class of Pakistan is seen to have been questioned lately. Thanks to independent judiciary. But surely, same is most distasteful for those who always assume themselves "above law". This class of people is now going crazy and trying to ambiguities about judiciary. One of such assault is Abdul Hameed Dogar staging a press conference on 27th Oct. He may have some substance to argue, but his public conference is surely an attempt to tarnish the image of judiciary, which is extremely heinous. A Common Pakistani must show support to judiciary and shun all such elements as forcefully as possible.

Khosa has a big mouth and he has accused and labelled several charges against Musharraf. Same goes to his rival, who is playing the role of an ANGEL, but he never expalined his position, while he faced the reference. They all come from the same pond.

This is what Latif khosa is all about! He is corrupt to the core, Khosa has been paid (£150,000) by Barclays lawyers in london to issue and pursue false allegations in courts in Lahore, he paid judges in BCC courts all for lining his and his side kick Rana Ijaz Ahmed Khan's pockets, this so-called black sheep of the family will con anyone for his habit for black label brandy. These are not lawyers, but corrupt individuals of the highest order. Thank God the CJ has some guts to call khosa to open court and show what he's all about. He's as black on the inside as he is on the outside, he should never hold any office in Pakistan and the PM should know better than to support this conman!

BUNCH OF THIEVES AND THUGS !! Need we say any more... The results are staring us in the face..... K-L Bill and then what next?? Become like Afghanistan ...May God help us.

It is wrong to say that Mr Khosa had battled for reinstatement of the CJ Iftikhar. Being from PPP he was in fact against the restoration. All said and done, it is clear from the newspaper reports that the CJ did nothing to make Khosa furious. So by all means it was Khosa who seems to be at fault for shouting and insulting the CJ during the hearing of his bribery case.

In fact Mr.Gillani has tried to pressurize the court otherwise he should have waited until his case decision, rather than appointing him special adviser in a hurry.
H.Rahman  [Toronto]
Mr. Khosa face the facts no one is above the law, prove in the court that you are innocent rather than shouting uselessly. Look at the international level where even top level face charges, you are just an attorney general.

It is an intersting case and a unique as well. I think for the first time in the judicial history a defendent has dared to raise his hand against " My Lord". It will set a new precedent in our judicial history and will give courage to others to break the myth of the sacred cow, irrespective of the merit of the case. In my view the judges should not think that they are angels and above law.
GHAZAN KHAN  [HOTI]
Mr. khosa is an habitual offender. He is also a land mafia guru. The house he is living in is occupied by him. He rented this house in Defence and refused to pay the rent and vacate it. The news in media published and case is in the court. So what else you expect from him. Good decision from cJ.

It is very surprising that PPP Government has appointed Mr. Latif Khosa as adviser to PM despite of this Mr. Khosa is involved in bribery. It is very unfortunate for all of us, I think, if charges proved PM should expel from party rather oblige him as adviser to the Prime Minister. This is fact we can not progress until or unless there should be rule of law for every one, no one should be beyond from law. We must have to eradicate the social evils in Pakistan like bribery, jobbery & nepotism, these evils are pushing our country back day by day. It is good decision that CJ Mr. Iftikhar Ahmad Chudhary conducted open trail of this case so that people should be aware of the character such people posted on high profile positions.

What an interesting case of Mr Khosa AGP, on the one side he has been expelled from CJ of Pakistan due to corruption, but on the other side he is an advisor to Prime Minister of Pakistan. The ball is in the court of Prime Minister's house, let us see how he plays.

The PPP govt is appointing the crafty and grafty Latif Khosa as the Advisor to the Prime Minister. Has anyone taught fish to swim. The kleptomaniacs of PPP do not need amateur Khaosa to teach them the art of extracting and exacting the graft. For Latif Khosa to exchange hot words or barbs is not an unexpected turn of eevents. The PPP govt restored the judiciary under public pressure and have yet to reconcile to the fact that the SC of their choice is defunct, dead. The accused Maghfoor of the NHA must substantiate his case by providing threadbare details of the transaction that transpired between the two of them to enable the prosecutors argue the case from the standpoint of strong link of preponderance to indict the accused Khosa. Nowadays the stage is set for the mega players to indulge into scams wearing snow white gloves and leaving no clues at the CSI. The PM and the President must be wary of the fact that any conviction of former AGP would open the Pandora Box that they are desperately trying to keep the lid as tightly sealed as they possibly could.
S. Nasrullah  [USA]
It is pay back time Mr. Khosa. No one should be above the law. He should explain his position. Legal system in pakistan have played dirty games for a very long time. Enough is enough. Accountability and justice is the fudamentals of a good society. The country and the condition of poor people will never change till we adopt these two basic principles.
SYED HUSSAIN  [Warrington]
What a mocking incident, when two jurists exchange barbs in front of full house, and more significantly the ex-AG has battled together to reinstate CJ , what a shame & what else can one expect from such fakes?
SAINTCUTE  [Lahore.]
I think, the people of Pakistan tired with all the issues related to court system in Pakistan. All we need a good work from Supreme Court and their Chief Ch. Iftikhar.
