K-Electric, SGP crash out of PFF National Challenge Cup
KARACHI: K-Electric were dumped out of the tournament when they were held to a goalless by Asia Ghee Mills in their Group H outing of the PFF National Challenge Cup here at the KPT Sports Complex on Saturday.
After going 0-1 down to Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), K-Electric needed a win to stay alive in the event. But on Saturday, they again failed to live up to the billing, squandering several chances against Asian Ghee Mills that caused their pre-mature ouster from the 24-team event.
Meanwhile in Group D, Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) defeated Sindh Government Press (SGP) 3-1 to keep their quarter-finals chances alive.
The second successive loss put SGP out of the competition here at the All Brothers Football Club Ground in Malir.
As per the details, SGP took the lead when Jehanzeb put them ahead in the 17th minute. However, PCAA levelled it through Dawood in the 25th minute. Saeed provided the lead to PCAA in the 60th minute. Naeem hit the third goal for PCAA in the 86th minute to complete the rout.
PCAA will now meet five-time winners Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) in their last group game next week which will decide the quarter-finalists from the group.
