WANA: Around 135 reformed militants, who were imparted various technical skills, were given certificates at a ceremony held in South Waziristan Agency here on Monday. Inspector General of Frontier Corps (IG FC) Major General Abid Latif was the chief guest and gave away the certificates. They were provided the training at the Ujala Training Centre in Wana, the administrative headquarters of South Waziristan.
Political Agent Sohail Khan, tribal elders and other officials of the civil and military administration were also present. Major General Abid Latif said that a total of 473 people arrested during military operation and others involved in petty crimes were imparted various technical skills at the Ujala Training Centre to make them productive citizens. He said these people have been trained in plumbing, carpentering and imparted other various skills under the initiative to enable them to earn a decent livelihood for themselves.
A bench headed by Justice Wiqar Ahmad issued these directives while hearing multiple petitions
