Chinese envoy calls on Senate chairman

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani said Wednesday that Pakistan and China had common agenda for regional development and shared dream for prosperity of the Asian people as the mutual ties are deep rooted in the history.

He expressed these views while talking to Ambassador of China Yao Jing, who called on him here at Parliament House on Wednesday. The ambassador congratulated the chairman and extended an invitation on behalf of the chairman of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPC). Senate chairman while accepting the invitation said that he would pay the first official visit to the China.

Senate chairman said that ‘One Belt One Road’ project would open new vista for the regional development particularly in Asia. He said that the relationship between the two countries was based on strategic needs and remained always strong irrespective of the fact which party had the government in Pakistan. He expressed the hope that the parliamentary relationship between the two countries would further strengthen in future.

Chairman Senate said that the parliamentary relations played an important role in furthering the development agenda for economic prosperity. He said that further increase in parliamentary relations between Pakistan and China would augment the time tested cooperation between the two countries.

He said that Pakistan and China had adopted common grounds on many international and regional parliamentary forums and we hope that by the exchange of parliamentary delegations would further enhance this cooperation.

Chairman Senate has said that Pakistan valued its relation with China and appreciated the Chinese cooperation for China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which is now a reality.

He said that China might consider future cooperation with Pakistan in education sector and should send more Chinese students to study in Pakistan. He said that Balochistan particularly Gwadar area had huge potential for investment and China might invest in establishing Metal Refinery in the province.

Chairman Senate appreciated the cooperation offered by the Chinese ambassador for developing sports infrastructure in Balochistan especially for promotion of the football in Makran region.
