ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday said Operation Zarb-e-Azb has proved very successful in eliminating terrorism from the country and the operation against militants will continue until the country is purged of the menace of terrorism.
Addressing a ‘Police-Darbar’ gathering at the Police Lines headquarters here, the minister said the war against terrorism will continue till the elimination of the last terrorist.
Over 500 operations have been launched against terrorists under National Action Plan but the war against terror has not ended yet, adding that though the enemies have run away but they are still planning attack and threats are still there.
Nisar vowed that he wants to purge police from corrupt elements, adding that Pakistan desperately needs courageous, upright and committed police officers who remain ready to sacrifice their lives for integrity and honour of the country.
He said that the country doesn’t need conventional policing system anymore. Police Force should improve their performance with systematic approach to make an end to crime from the country, he said.
Nisar said that he is committed to make an end to financial issues of Police Force, adding that police should also focus on improving their performance instead of devising measures to earn money through unfair means.
Commenting on reduction in theft incidents in the federal capital, the minister said, “Don’t tell me that street crimes have reduced in the capital city; is there any official who had been dismissed owing to increase in theft incidents in the jurisdiction of his police station”.
The minister said that trade activities and peaceful environment for citizens will be ensured and police personnel who are not willing to perform their professional duties with commitment and diligence can write letter to IG. “I guarantee them that they will take regular salaries by sitting at their homes” but one should ready for doing duty with commitment and honour, he said. This uniform is your proud and one should not compromise on integrity and honour of this uniform, said the minister.
