Emergency declared in Karachi to deal with dengue outbreak

KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has imposed “emergency” in Karachi division on Tuesday to deal with the viral outbreak of dengue fever in the city.

Commissioner Karachi and Chief Officer General Administration for the Karachi division, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, issued a notification stating that all organisations and departments concerned were required to “take all precautionary and curative measures to save people from this (dengue viral fever) disease”.

The notification called for imposing a health emergency which includes taking all measures to provide speedy testing and treatment to people, to ensure that all possible places of from where the virus was spreading were properly disinfected.

The directives also called on all departments and organisations to act in accordance with the Sindh prevention and control of dengue rules.
