KARACHI: In a positive development, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) early on Thursday announced a day’s suspension for all activities relating to ongoing election campaign in the wake of NA-246 by-polls on April 23.
A spokesman for the MQM said that no corner meeting or public gathering would be held on Thursday to pave way for a smooth trip of PTI Chairman Imran Khan to Azizabad and Jinnah Ground.
He added that all election offices and camps of the MQM would also remain closed today.
Imran Khan is currently visiting Karachi to boost morale of PTI workers and candidate for the Azizabad by-election, Imran Ismael.
Addressing a press conference at Ismael’s residence upon his arrival in the city earlier in the day, the PTI chief said that he was in the city ‘to break the shackles of fear’.
His wife Reham Khan is also expected to accompany him during the visit to Jinnah Ground.
