PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said provincial government is taking steps for rapid industrialisation and creation of investment opportunities in the province under ‘one-window operation’ of the provincial industrial policy.

Talking to the Ambassador of Spain, Carlos Cesar Morales Sanchez, here on Saturday, Pervez Khattak said that an independent body had been established to facilitate the investors.

The chief minister said that they had introduced reforms in all fields, however, health, education, police, energy and social sectors were priority of his government.

“Our government announced first-ever industrial policy. Existing industrial zones are being upgraded and 16 new zones will be established,” he added.  He added that a trade information office had also been established. The ambassador of Spain lauded Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s reforms initiatives and developmental strategy.

The visiting ambassador expressed his willingness in investment in agriculture, energy, forest and minerals sectors.

CM visits Mansehra today:  Chief Minister Pervez Khattak is due here today (Sunday).

Sources said the chief minister would declare the historic town of Baffa a tehsil of Mansehra.  He will address a public gathering at Government Higher Secondary School where he, according to the event organisers, would give Baffa the status of a tehsil.

The residents, activists of various political parties and traders in Baffa took to the streets and raised slogans in support of the decision on the new tehsil.

Meanwhile, traders in Shinkiari observed shutter-down strike in protest against what they termed a biased decision of the government.
