ISLAMABAD: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman while publicly expressing his hatred against the US on Tuesday said he would even call a dog as ‘martyr’ if it was killed by the US.
Talking to media persons at the Parliament House, Fazlur Rehman called for ending the severe tension which had been created between the government and Taliban following the drone attack which killed the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Hakimullah Mehsud and other commanders.
He said all the parties would also have to sit across the table to end the tension and unite on a common point to start the dialogue process. “Majority of people want peace dialogue, therefore any party should refrain from taking a solo line and giving any deadline,” he said.
Maulana Fazl observed that there was no doubt that the people were in severe pain and stress but there was a need to move ahead with wisdom and find a wise and peaceful solution to the menace of terrorism. “Now we will have to work out as to how we can bring the Taliban back to negotiating table after the drone attack,” he said, adding that terrorism was not the problem of a single party.
The JUI-F chief maintained that strong economy was not possible without peace in the country.INP adds: Fazlur Rehman said the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) was indulging in politics of point scoring by making statements for halting of Nato supply lines.
He said the PTI should tell the nation why it deferred a resolution moved by the JUI-F against drone attacks in the provincial assembly a few months back.
He demanded of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to convene another All Parties Conference (APC) in the wake of new developments. He also appealed to the TTP leadership not to allow derailment of peace process in the wake of Hakimullah’s killing.
