PESHAWAR: Senior leader of the Awami National Party (ANP) Ghulam Ahmed Bilour said on Sunday that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan was responsible for the bomb blasts and should be questioned in this regard.
The ANP leader visited the site of bomb blast in Qissa Khawani Bazaar outside Khan Raziq police station, and talking to the media strongly condemned the incident.Bilour said all the political parties of the country gave a mandate to the government for a dialogue with the Taliban, adding that people are dying but the government is not starting negotiations.
Bilour said he is not demanding the resignation of the PTI from the government but it is a fact that the government has failed to provide security to the public, adding that now it is difficult to afford the burden of dead bodies. He said attacks are happening on a daily basis. “We are receiving the bodies of our beloved ones. What kind of change is this,” Bilour questioned.
Meanwhile, ANP Senator Zahid Khan said terrorist attacks are happening in the province while the rulers are enjoying power. “If they cannot bring peace to the city then they should hand over the city to the culprits,” Zahid Khan said. — Sana
Mumtaz Alvi adds from Islamabad: Imran Khan strongly condemned the latest terrorist attack in Peshawar and said nothing justified the killing of innocent people including women and children and that it was against Islam.
Imran assured the nation, particularly the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, that the culprits would be punished.Imran said the behaviour of some political parties in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks was ‘shameful’.
The PTI chairman noted that it was unfortunate that some parties were again using this tragedy for political point-scoring when all political forces should be together to bring peace in Pakistan.
Imran maintained that he had demanded of the PTI-led provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to move on an emergency basis to bolster the provincial security and intelligence setup.
“Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is being deliberately targeted by those forces who do not want to see peace and stability restored in Pakistan,” Imran contended without elaborating who those forces are.
