BARA: Khyber tribal district administration on Sunday removed seven checkposts from Pak-Afghan highway, an official said.
Talking to reporters, Deputy Commissioner Mahmood Aslam Wazir said that seven checkposts were removed from Torkham to Mattani on Pak-Afghan Highway.
He said that on the complaint of drivers of trailers and trucks, the administration removed the checkposts.
“We have also suspended a line officer of Jamrud tehsil on the public complaints,” Mahmood Aslam said, and warned that the Khassadar and Levies personnel would be punished if found involved in bribery.
He directed the assistant commissioners of Bara, Jamrud and Landikotal to install solar CCTV cameras at all Khassadar and Levies checkposts in the district forthwith.
The DC directed all quarters concerned to visit all checkposts on a daily basis and submit a daily report to the administration.
The deputy commissioner had suspended six Khassadars for taking bribes from truck drivers at various checkposts several days ago.
