The cast sizzled at the red carpet premiere of ‘Moor’ held at the Cinegold Plex, Bahria Town, on Wednesday night.
The Pakistani cinema has seen many successful films of different genres in recent years. The current film which is off to break the box office is none other than ‘Moor.’ The film would be screened all over Pakistan from August 14 (today).
'Moor' has all ingredients to pull the crowd on Independence Day. It is all set to enthrall viewers in a journey of lost love, deceit and defeat. ‘Moor’, the movie, has been in the making for four years, shooting in Balochistan at some of the coldest areas of Pakistan. Combining some of the finest talents available in the country and the breathtaking landscapes shown in the movie, fingers are crossed for a super hit movie on Independence Day which would surely be a big contribution to the revival of Pakistani cinema.
‘Moor’ is a Pakistani drama film directed, written by Jami and produced by Nadeem Mandviwalla under the production banner of Azad Film Company. The film stars Hameed Sheikh in lead along with Samiya Mumtaz, Shaz Khan, Nayyar Ejaz, Ayaz Samoo and Abdul Qadir in lead roles. The film's title, ‘Moor,’ is a Pushto word meaning ‘Mother’.
The film's story depicts the railway system of Balochistan, especially the closure of Zhob Valley railways in 1984. The broken link between Zhob and Bhosan is shown in the movie. Besides the movie shows how families are run by women. How strong bond a woman can weave to save her family.
According to the director of the movie, the film depicts living through the problems faced by Pakistan. Centred around corruption which grabbed the Balochistan’s railway system, the movie narrates a heartbreaking story of an ill-fated Pakistani family whose lives get tangled in tragedy.
A strong portfolio spanning many styles, genres and techniques -- Jamshed Mahmood Raza, popularly known as Jami, is a believer in purity and simplicity.
Jami, while talking to ‘The News,’ said that he has highlighted the massive scavenging of train networking in Balochistan in 1984 in the movie. Massive fraud and corruption was committed by the locals. He said that it is a different movie and "we will keep on contributing to the Pakistani cinema. The biggest challenge while shooting for the movie was the extreme weather which was -14°C in winters. The movie was shot in different places like Shila Bagh, Khost and Muslim Bagh in Balochistan.
Samiya Mumtaz, who has played the role of the mother of the hero, Shaz Khan, while talking to 'The News,' said that it was not an easy task to play a young-to-old role. "It was a great experience working with Jami," she added.
Spotted at the premiere among many celebrities, Pakistani film director, producer and screenwriter Hassan Waqas Rana, best known for his debut production ‘Waar,’ while speaking to 'The News,' said “I wish Jami best of luck for his outstanding movie."
‘Moor’ is ready to captivate the audience with a stellar cast featuring Hameed Sheikh, Shaz Khan, Samiya Mumtaz, Abdul Qadir, Shabbir Rana, Ayaz Samoo, Soniya Hussain and I R Omar.
Strings have produced the movie's seven-song soundtrack, Meesha Shafi, Javed Bashir, Rahim Shah and Rahma Ali have sung songs for the film.
The film’s music score is given by Strings, lyrics by Anwar Maqsood, cinematography is done by Farhan Hafeez, editing by Rizwan AQ, production by Azad Film Company and distributed by the Geo Films.
