‘Promote positive image of Pakistan’

PAKISTANI artist, social crusader and a human rights activist of international fame Jimmy Engineer has reiterated his commitment to continue serving Pakistan and its people and enhancing the image of the motherland in the comity of nations, which is direly needed in the prevailing circumstances, in whatever manner possible as long as he is alive.
He said Pakistan was a peace-loving country and its people were imbued with spirit of love, brotherhood, patriotism and living in peace and harmony with the people of the region and the world over. He reiterated this while delivering a talk at Harvard University Boston organised by Harvard Pakistan Students Group and South Asia Collaborative at the Eliot Lyman Room, Long Fellow Hall of the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Images of his creative artwork kept flowing in the backdrop of the stage while he was delivering the talk and also responding to the queries from the audience with particular reference to his biography ‘In Search of My Master’ which was also displayed there.
Jimmy Engineer talked about his creative art and activities as a committed and dedicated social worker and urged fellow countrymen to promote positive, progressive, forward looking and peace-loving image of Pakistan and its people through all their acts and interacting with the people in the country they were living and working.
According to a message received here from Boston, Jimmy said they could do this noble and quite appreciable work through words, actions and deeds, adding that he had dedicated all his artistic qualities and energies for enhancing the image and prestige of Pakistan within the country in general and in particular in foreign countries while travelling abroad.
He said that as a committed social worker, he was ready to serve the suffering humanity at large in general and special children in particular to improve their lot. He said he feels quite satisfied and contended when he sees smiles on the

faces of special children.
Jimmy Engineer said that year 2013 had been quite hectic for him as an artist as he had held seven international exhibitions in just about 10 months. He said he had participated in group paintings exhibition with Pakistani artists in Jakarta, Indonesia, and with Indian artists in Dubai and held solo major shows of his creative work in Singapore twice, Bangkok, Thailand and Mississauga, Canada, once each. He said he had exhibited his artwork for the first time in Jakarta and Bangkok and was very happy with the warm and enthusiastic response everywhere from the art lovers. He said needless to mention that he had availed every opportunity while in these countries to promote and project soft, moderate, forward looking, peace-loving and loveable Pakistan and its people. He said he was happy to note that the walk culture was now being emulated by many people and there was growing awareness among people in particular the parents and relatives of special children.
He said he had walked across the country over the years and was still ready to undertake more walks anywhere for one or other social and humanitarian causes besides organising more and more fun, food and awareness programmes for special children in the country and even abroad as he had already held six such programmes for special children in Sri Lanka some years back.
The function was moderated by Masood Shaikh, a friend of Jimmy Engineer and a member of Pakistan American community of the greater Boston area.
Introducing the guest speaker, he said Jimmy Engineer had dedicated his life for creating awareness about poverty and special needs of special children in particular of Pakistan and in general the world over. He said, ‘Jimmy expresses himself through his paintings and creating awareness about special children.’
Jimmy Engineer also participated in largely attended vigil held in Boston, in memory of the martyred teachers and students of Army Public School Peshawar.
