PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Saturday ordered an inquiry into delay in the completion of the Bust Rapid Transit (BRT) project and missing the March 23 deadline.
An official handout said the chief minister directed the provincial inspection team to probe the reasons behind the delay in the completion.
The team was ordered to identify those responsible for the inordinate delay and submit its report as soon as possible so that the ones responsible for the dereliction could be held accountable. The chief minister said the BRT project was initiated for the welfare of the masses so that their traffic problems could be resolved. The people, he said, were faced with numerous problems due to the delay in the completion of the project. He said there must be an immediate and last solution to the obstacles impeding the early completion of the project. Mahmood Khan said there must be an end to the everyday deadlines for the completion of the project. He asked the quarters concerned to work with commitment on the project. At same time he warned that no compromise would be made on the quality of work on the project. The contractors and officials of the government associated with the project should not expect any extension in the deadline of the project as well, he added. New policy: The chief minister approved a new transfer and posting policy for elementary and secondary education throughout the province. The new mechanism is meant to discourage unnecessary postings and transfers making the teachers responsible to both their responsibilities for the quality education. The chief minister presided over a meeting at the C’s House for the new policy of postings and transfers in the elementary and secondary education. Provincial Minister Akbar Ayub Khan, Special Assistant to CM on Elementary and Secondary Education Ziaullah Bangash and Secretary Education Arshad Khan attended the meeting.
